Abstract

The first studies to choose contractors in EPC contracts are back in the years ahead. Studies have shown that the existence of a contractor in EPC contracts is considered to be important for contractors and reduces risk, cost, and overall improvement of project objectives. General contractors have limited workload in specialized disciplines and it is inefficient to take full-time specialized labor force and carry out the operation, maintenance and control of specialized machinery with a high cost for them. As a result, contractors in EPC contracts that specialize in one or more specific fields of activity will be able to perform specialized work at a lower cost and higher quality. This research, using two qualitative and quantitative approaches, identifies and prioritizes selection criteria for contractors, which was done through interviewing AHP and topsis methodology. The results indicated that 12 factors such as executive, financial and engineering teams are involved in contractor selection in EPC contracts.
