Abstract
This article presents the results of a study on the most active applications of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The advantages and prominent features of AI technologies for gaining a competitive edge in various fields of activity have been considered. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be defined as the ability of a machine to perform cognitive functions such as perception, reasoning, learning, and problem-solving that humans can easily do. In the past two decades, AI has received widespread attention due to access to a vast amount of data generated through the internet. Processing this data using advanced algorithms has brought significant benefits to governments and businesses in recent years. The development of machine learning algorithms supported by technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) has contributed to the growth of artificial intelligence. This article categorizes a variety of issues in the transportation industry under the title of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Some of the targeted subsystems include traffic management, public transportation, safety management, production, and logistics of intelligent transportation systems, where the benefits of artificial intelligence are utilized. This study examines specific areas of interest in the transportation industry and related issues, exploring possible solutions using artificial intelligence. This approach involves a secondary study based on available national data from various sources. Furthermore, discussions on artificial intelligence solutions for addressing transportation industry challenges in different countries around the world have been raised.
