This study meticulously reviews the impact of subway development on air pollution, focusing on China as a case study. Amidst rapid urbanization and escalating private vehicle usage, China's air pollution has soared, prompting significant investments in public transportation as a mitigation strategy. This article examines how subway expansions correlate with changes in air quality across multiple Chinese cities, drawing from high-frequency data on air pollutants like PM10, PM2.5, NOx, SO2, and CO. A notable finding is that new subway openings generally lead to a decrease in PM10 and PM2.5 levels, with reductions averaging 17% across different cities. However, the study also identifies complexities in the relationship between subway development and air pollution reduction. While short-term impacts occasionally show increased pollutant levels, likely due to construction activities, long-term analysis reveals more consistent improvements. For example, after subway line inaugurations, PM10 levels initially rise by approximately 5% but subsequently decrease by around 9% over more extended periods. These dynamics underscore the effectiveness of subways in reducing air pollution, particularly in high-density urban areas, though the benefits may vary based on local conditions and the scale of the subway network. By integrating comprehensive spatial econometric analyses, this research not only highlights the direct benefits of subway infrastructure on environmental health but also enriches the policy dialogue concerning sustainable urban transport solutions in mega-urban settings.

One of the challenges in the construction of roads and airports that affects the transportation system is the freezing of the pavement surface, which can lead to accidents and cause financial and human losses. Historically, most countries around the world have used salt as a de-icing agent for pavements. While salt is effective for de-icing, it has destructive effects on both the pavement and the environment. Asphalt pavements, being a vital part of transportation infrastructure due to their importance in traffic safety and comfort, are significantly affected by the use of salt as a de-icing agent. This can lead to various types of damage, including increased degradation, cracking, and reduced lifespan of the pavements. These challenges have led to the search for new and innovative solutions for de-icing and preventing ice formation on pavements. This article examines the destructive effects of salt on asphalt pavements and evaluates and compares modern solutions for de-icing and preventing ice formation. These solutions include the use of organic materials, methods of using thermal energy for de-icing, which involves geothermal energy, non-geothermal energy, and electrical energy, as well as mechanical methods.

Over the past four thousand years, the history of transportation began with pack animals and sailing boats and evolved with the invention of the wheel and steam engine. Air transport, with the ability to quickly cover long distances, has its own advantages and challenges. The volume of air freight transportation in Iran is relatively low compared to overall transportation, and there is a need to reduce costs and increase innovation. Air transport plays a crucial role in transporting valuable or time-sensitive goods in global trade. The status of air freight transportation in Iran has been examined in three main sections. First, the trend of transported volume, both domestically and internationally, has been recounted over the past decade, and consequently, information regarding the performance and market share of airlines in this sector has been discussed. Additionally, the role of airports (cities) in air freight transportation has been scrutinized, and data related to the volume of incoming and outgoing cargo from airports have been highlighted. Finally, a comparison between domestic and international air freight transportation has been conducted, providing an analysis of the performance of airlines in these two domains. To develop air freight transportation in Iran and enhance the efficiency of this industry, suggested solutions include attracting domestic and foreign investors, developing open skies agreements with other countries, leveraging Iran's unique geographical position to establish north-south and east-west corridors in the region, and reducing cargo transportation costs by outsourcing the airport transportation sector to airline companies.

The main objective of this article is to examine the impact of the average age of intercity bus fleets on the number of passengers and road fatalities. To this end, data from the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization of Iran and the Forensic Medicine Organization of Iran between the years 2018-2022 have been used. Transportation is one of the most important sectors in every country, and a considerable volume of transportation in our country takes place through roads. More than 80% of intercity travelers in the country are transported by intercity buses. Therefore, studying the factors affecting the quantity and quality of bus fleets is of particular importance.Unfortunately, in our country, due to various reasons such as sanctions, inflation, economic difficulties, lack of attracting investors, lack of attention by officials to planning and development, etc., the number of active buses has decreased and the average age of fleets has increased. In this research, data definition, study, and comparison have been used considering the subject of the research. The results show that with the increase in the average age of fleets, the average number of passengers has even decreased after the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions and had a downward trend. Moreover, the risks and accidents of intercity travel and the increase in fatalities have increased with the aging of the fleets, and the shortage of bus tickets has become one of the problems, especially on special occasions. Proposed solutions to address this issue and reduce the average age of fleets, in the current conditions of the country, require more investment and attention, liberalization and assistance in importing new buses, and long-term support to domestic bus manufacturers to increase the quality and quantity of buses.

Recognizing traffic signs is very important in the field of intelligent transportation systems, because it effectively increases the safety of our roads. By equipping drivers with vital information about potential hazards, this technology significantly reduces response time and helps making quick decisions while operating the vehicle. Due to the exponential growth of our population, unfortunately the increase in the number of vehicles has led to a painful increase in traffic fatalities and injuries. Although the expansion of the transportation network helps the traffic issue, this expansion may be inapplicable due to the High financial costs, geographic and environmental limitations, as well as a long period of time to improve transportation infrastructure. Quality control of traffic colors, shabrangs, glass beads and other traffic signs in accordance with national and international standards will significantly reduce the number of dead and injured. Managing a smart city with emphasis on waste reduction and efficient use of resources is the main responsibility of traffic and transportation activities. The use of complex processing techniques in cars to increase safety without interfering with driving has been proposed as part of the concept of a smart city. This study looks at a new approach that can help create a framework for placing street signs using Google images into a traffic management program. The findings show a reduction in travel time, an increase in the use of the fleet, better maintenance of vehicles, and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from passenger cars.

This research aims to investigate the safety performance of two types of guards (Dividers) guardrail and New Jersey on the freeway of Qazvin-Zanjan. The replacement of guardrails with concrete barriers (New Jersey) in the toll section of Tehran Qazvin to Ziaabad range has been ongoing for a length of 68 km since the end of 2018 and the end of 2020. The study found that New Jersey's installation reduced head-on crashes by more than 96 percent. It has also had a significant impact on reducing the number of accidents. However, the study of accident statistics will accurately explain the effectiveness of New Jersey in reducing accidents. However, the decrease in the frequency of accidents in axles with concrete protection may be due to the sense of security that drivers experience while driving on axles equipped with New Jersey. This issue was raised in several previous studies

This article examines the pervasive issue of flight delays in Iranian airports and the factors affecting it. As air travel continues to play an important role in global connectivity and economic growth, understanding the causes and consequences of flight delays becomes critical. The importance of speed as the main indicator in the aviation industry compared to other means of transportation caused the issue of flight delays to be looked at more sensitively. Also, one of the influential factors for the performance of airline companies and the level of passenger satisfaction is the issue of flight delays and cancellations by the company. Using a comprehensive data set and statistical analyses, we examine the percentage of delayed flights in Iran's main airports and clarify the underlying factors affecting these delays. Then, using the defined index, we compare the performance of the most important Iranian airlines in terms of flight delays and cancellations in recent years using available data. As a result of these calculations, all domestic airlines in Iran, like other countries in the world, experience the most delays in the winter season. According to the evidence, this issue is predictable to a good extent and more efforts should be made in this field so that there is less impact on the economy of the country and the comfort of passengers during the trip

With the start of the corona virus from the city of Wuhan in China and its spread among other nations, a gray era began in the world. This crisis permeated all businesses and industries, including the airline industry. After the announcement of the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 21, 2020 regarding the epidemic of this virus, physical distancing was recognized as the best way to deal with the spread of this disease. Hereupon, the demand for transportation decreased to a significant amount and the airline companies all over the world entered an economic recession. An analysis published by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) states that the crisis has reduced revenue generated from passengers for the world's airlines by 55% (equivalent to $314 billion) in the year of the outbreak. Similar surveys in other countries have also shown a decrease in travel demand and by examining various companies, researchers have recognized methods such as using technologies to reduce the need for physical contact in airports, the policy of removing the middle seat, etc., to be effective. They have also encouraged the governments to support the airline industries. In this article, the performance of Iranian airlines in domestic flights in the years 2016 to 2021 is examined and using the extracted results, a comparison between the years including covid-19 and other years is made. Due to the homogenization of the passenger, cargo and mail variables for comparison, indicators have been defined by dividing each variable by the number of flights. The result of this comparison shows a decrease of more than 20% in the passenger index from 2019 to 2020 and an increasing trend in cargo and mail indexes in these years, which can be due to people's eagerness for online shopping in this era compared to in-person shopping.

The present study focuses on the binary logit model for predicting the probability of driver fatalities in road accidents. The study utilizes data from road traffic accidents in Canada. These data were collected by the highway police in 2019 and recorded in the National Collison Database (NCBD). The dependent variable in this model is the severity of accidents, which is a binary variable representing driver fatalities and injuries. The independent variables include vehicle types, vehicle age, days of the week, time intervals, same-direction and opposite-direction collisions, intersections, weather conditions, driver age, and gender. By analyzing the data and estimating the parameters, the model can predict up to 41% of the variations in the dependent variable. In the model validation stage, the data were divided into two parts, with 70% used for modeling and 30% for validation. McFadden's pseudo were used to evaluate the model's performance. The models were constructed using SPSS and Nlogit6.0 software. The results demonstrate that the model fits well with the data and has the capability to predict changes in accident severity. Consequently, the study indicates that variables such as road dryness, midnight time interval, and vehicle age contribute to an increase in driver fatalities, while variables such as light duty vehicles, school buses, and same-direction collisions contribute to a reduction in fatalities.

Every year, a significant number of our compatriots in Iran are killed or injured in road accidents, resulting in heavy damages to society and the country. With population growth and road traffic, the financial costs of accidents are imposed on families and the government, in addition to the irreparable psychological and social damages. Human factors, vehicles, roads, and natural elements are the main contributors to unsafe traffic conditions. The traffic safety index serves as a suitable measure for evaluating the safety level of countries. The objective of this research is to compare Iran's traffic safety index with that of Central and East Asian countries. When comparing Iran with East Asian countries, it should be noted that each country has its unique characteristics and approaches to road safety. East Asian countries such as South Korea, Japan, China, and Singapore have implemented various measures to address road safety issues, including infrastructure improvement, stricter regulations, advanced technologies, and public awareness campaigns. As a result, these countries have experienced varying degrees of success in reducing road accidents and casualties. Based on index calculations, Iran has unfavorable and concerning conditions compared to most Central and East Asian countries, and therefore, more attention and effort are needed to improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents.

Road accidents pose a persistent challenge to transportation systems, costing approximately 3% of the gross national product of countries annually. In this research, a multinomial logit model (MNL) was employed to assess variables associated with accidents involving private cars, taxis, buses, motorcycles, and bicycles. Private car accidents were considered as the reference category, and the multinomial logit model was used to create a more accurate and data-driven model. The results indicated that the use of bicycles and motorcycles had a higher likelihood of accidents compared to private cars, while buses and taxis had a lower likelihood. The data used in this study were collected by the Traffic Transport Organization of Manchester, England, from the years 2010 to 2021. The statistical software SPSS was utilized for model construction, and accidents were evaluated based on the type of vehicle. Out of the total of 21 variables used, 13 variables were found to have a significant impact in the model. The Log likelihood (LL) was employed to evaluate the models, resulting in a value of 58998.662 for the first model and 80427.09 for the second model. Considering the higher Log likelihood value in the second model, it was selected as the superior model in this research. The findings revealed that variables such as deviation from the route, personal trips, and driver gender contributed the most to accidents.

Nowadays, the close competition of airline companies in attracting passengers has made it very important for planners and policymakers in this field to investigate the psychological issues and the differences in the passengers' views. Different airline companies seek to examine the ideals and values of passengers in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses in order to maintain their position in the competitive market or promote it with correct and accurate planning. In this study, various factors affecting satisfaction from the passengers' point of view are examined using survey data and logistic regression modeling. The factors examined in this study include characteristics such as age and gender, loyalty to the airline, and the level of satisfaction with the quality of various services such as food and internet services, baggage handling services, and online ticket booking. In addition, the effect of variables related to each flight, such as distance and delays, are also investigated on passenger satisfaction. The modeling results of this research show the importance and significance of the variables of type of travel (personal or business), type of passenger (loyal or not loyal to the company), class of travel (Eco or Eco Plus or business), the level of satisfaction with baggage handling and the level of satisfaction with the boarding process. This study has shown the high sensitivity of passengers to the process of getting on the plane and also to baggage handling.

Accidents in Iran pose a significant public health burden, requiring effective prevention and management strategies. Latent variable modelling provides a promising approach to understanding the complex factors that contribute to accidents in Iran. This paper reviews the current state of knowledge of latent variable modelling in Iran's accidents. The paper provides a synthesis of the literature on the measurement and modelling of latent variables in accidents, including human factors, environmental factors, and organizational factors, and also reviews the common statistical techniques used in the analysis of latent variables, such as structural equation modelling, latent class analysis, and factor analysis. The strengths and limitations of these approaches are discussed. The review shows that although some studies have applied latent variable modelling to accidents in Iran, the use of these techniques is still relatively limited in comparison to other countries. Overall, It has been argued that latent variable modelling can offer valuable insights into the underlying mechanisms of accidents in Iran and guide more effective strategies for prevention and management. This study used data from accidents resulting in the death or injury of passengers gathered on Iranian roadways in 2015, and the latent class model was fitted to this data using the NLOGIT6 software. And the findings have been reported in this article. The findings suggest that elements such as the season and day of the accident, as well as weather conditions, have an impact on the severity of accidents.

Over the past 10 years, the performance of airlines in the passenger domain has been influenced by various factors. Consequently, numerous studies have been conducted worldwide on the factors affecting the performance of airlines in passenger services, and Iran has also seen significant statistical studies in this regard. In this research, an attempt has been made to conduct a comparative analysis of the years 2012 to 2022 for Iranian airlines in the passenger domain, using defined statistical indices. The defined indices in this study include passenger density on each flight, the percentage of delayed flights, the percentage of canceled flights, and the number of flights passing through the country's airspace. It was observed that Iran had acceptable performance in three indices until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, after the pandemic, due to lack of planning and readiness for unforeseen events like COVID-19, the airline performance has been severely impacted. Hence, airlines need effective planning and strategies to prevent the adverse effects of unforeseen events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This article examines the effect of human error in aviation accidents. Aviation accidents are one of the most important factors that threaten security in air transportation, and various factors can play a role in their occurrence. One of these factors is human error, which can lead to an accident from simple to serious and uncorrectable errors, also human error is one of the important factors in plane accidents that can have serious consequences for the health and safety of passengers and aircraft employees. It may occur at any stage of the flight process from design and manufacturing to flight operations and maintenance. In the flight operations phase, this error can include pilot and air traffic control errors, ground logistics errors (such as lack of proper maintenance and repair of aircraft), and flight crew performance errors. It is clear that the detailed investigation of human errors in aviation accidents plays a significant role in increasing the safety of flights and may lead to effective improvements in the fields of pilot training and aircraft systems design. The purpose of this article is to analyze the human error in aviation accidents and the factors affecting its occurrence, which can help improve the safety and performance of airplanes and thus save people's lives in aviation accidents.
