Buckling restrained brace (BRB), a specialized form of concentric bracing exhibiting identical tensile and compressive behavior, finds application in both novel structural designs and the retrofitting of existing structures. In recent years, BRBs have gained prominence in enhancing the seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) buildings. However, a comprehensive investigation into the response modification factors of these structures has been lacking. This study employs pushover analysis with sap software to evaluate the response modification factors of RC structures incorporating BRBs, encompassing ductility, ductility reduction factor, over strength factor, and energy dissipation capacity. The research focuses on assessing the response modification factor of RC moment-resisting frames (RC-MRFs) equipped with BRBs, considering varying story numbers (4, 8, and 12 stories). The investigated RC-MRFs, characterized by medium ductility, feature diverse brace arrangements, including diagonal braces. Seismic behavior assessment of the studied frames utilizes the trilinear displacement-force relationship. The findings of this research demonstrate an improved performance of RC-MRFs when incorporating BRBs.
